As we move through Psalm 23 in the rhythm of breath and walking prayer, we now arrive at the center of the labyrinth—the still point. After the inward movement of Loving God, this moment invites us to simply be with God.
This is the second movement: Loving Union.
Here, we pause. Not to accomplish or ask or analyze—but to rest in communion with the One who has been walking beside us all along.

The Second Movement: Loving Union
Psalm 23:6
“Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
In a labyrinth walk, the center is the heart of the journey—a place of arrival and abiding. It is where we stop moving and begin resting. After the slow spiral inward, the invitation is no longer directional. It’s relational.
This is the space of Loving Union.
Here, we practice resting in God without striving.
Here, we let go of words and intentions.
Here, we become still and let God be God.
Practice: Rest in Wordless Presence
If you're walking a labyrinth, pause in the center. If you're seated with a finger labyrinth or simply practicing stillness, let your body become quiet and grounded. Gently return your attention to Psalm 23:6.
“I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Let these words fall like water into a deep well. Then let the words go.
There’s nothing you need to say.
Nothing you need to accomplish.
Only presence.
Only love.
Breath Prayer
If you find your mind wandering, you can gently return to the breath with a short prayer:
INHALE: And I dwell
EXHALE: in the house of the Lord forever.
Repeat as needed. Then release even the words and return to silence.
A Few Moments of Silence
Take at least two full minutes (or longer if you can) to sit in silence with God. If distractions come, gently acknowledge them and return to this moment.
Picture God’s goodness and mercy surrounding you. Picture yourself simply dwelling—being held in the house of the Lord.
You are already home.
Reflection
How did it feel to be still and wordless with God? Was it uncomfortable, peaceful, or something else?
What did you notice about your body or breath in the stillness?
How might you carry this union with you as you prepare to return to the path?
On Wednesday, we’ll complete this three-part journey with the third movement: Loving Others—the outward spiral into the world, carrying what we’ve received back into our everyday life.
